Ok so before the clock strikes 7.30 tonight and we all turn into fat storing zombies let’s try save you!
Your body doesn’t have an internal alarm clock that rings in the evening saying store fat when carbohydrates are consumed.
It is simple over eating and portion control that causes weight gain, not evening Cho consumption! Studies show Metabolism is actually just as elevated during phases of sleep as it is during the day!
I’m not exactly giving the green light to go eat a cake a box of krispy kremes before bed, but if you’re hungry or you got in from work late don’t fucking starve yourself in ode to the fat storing fable!
A reasonable amount of complex fibrous carbs with low sugars accompanied by a good fat and protein will not cause you a problem.
If anything you’ll have a great nights sleep due to seratonin release which may set you up for a better days work in the morning, Upstairs for thinking !
The only minor negative i could raise from carb intake before bed is the rise in insulin could blunt Growth Hormone secretion as you sleep, but unless you’re severly strict on your diet and want to really taper in the details I wouldn’t worry.
All in all what is your situation ? Are you a serious weight trainer preparing for a show or competetive athlete with specific dietary or performance requirements?
Alternatively you may be an average guy or girl simply leading a healthy lifestyle who wants to improve their physique, really don’t be so consumed by these myths guys , less stress – better progress
